Bangladesh continues to hold the top position as the primary supplier of denim apparel to the European Union, according to recent Eurostat figures. Despite this leading status, the nation experienced a 5.85 percent decrease in denim exports during the initial eight months of the current year, totaling 870 million euros. This downturn is part of a broader contraction in the EU market, which saw total denim imports drop by 4.40 percent to 2.95 billion euros. While Bangladesh currently commands a 29.40 percent share of the European market, it faces mounting pressure from rival manufacturing nations. Competitors including China, India, Vietnam, and Egypt have demonstrated significant growth in their respective export volumes during the same timeframe, signaling a shift in the competitive landscape of the global denim trade.
