Following the end of the Dashain festival, the National Chicken Sales Business Association has officially lowered poultry prices in Kathmandu. Effective this Monday, the cost of live chicken has been reduced by Rs 10, bringing the new rate to Rs 280 per kilogram. Simultaneously, the price for dressed chicken has seen a decline of Rs 15, moving from Rs 400 to Rs 385 per kilogram. Industry representatives attribute this downward adjustment to a significant drop in market demand for poultry. During the festive period, consumers typically prioritize goat meat, and many residents departed the capital city to celebrate with their families, leading to a temporary surplus in the local chicken supply.
