Senior police officials in Bangladesh have raised alarms regarding potential violence during the forthcoming local government polls. During a training session held at the Rajarbagh Police Lines in Dhaka, authorities highlighted significant operational limitations that could hinder their ability to maintain order. Specifically, the police force is facing a shortage of 2,500 vehicles, a deficit that effectively diminishes their nationwide operational capacity by approximately 20 percent. Inspector General of Police Ali Hossain Fakir and other high-ranking officers discussed these logistical challenges, noting that such constraints complicate the force's ability to manage electoral security effectively. The discussion underscored the difficulties law enforcement faces in ensuring a peaceful environment during the democratic process, particularly given the historical context of political tensions observed during previous national elections.
