Immigration officials in Pattaya have apprehended a 41-year-old Chinese national named Yang for remaining in Thailand illegally for over seven years. The arrest followed a formal request from Chinese authorities who are seeking the individual in connection with a significant financial crime. Yang is accused of embezzling approximately 27 million baht from the Beiyin Rural Town Bank in Yunnan province, where he formerly served as a manager. Investigators allege that he conducted 12 unauthorized transfers of company funds into his private account between 2018 and 2019, resulting in losses totaling 5.5 million yuan. An official warrant for his arrest was issued by Chinese law enforcement on July 15. The suspect had been evading authorities while residing in Thailand until his recent detention by immigration police.
