The Colombo High Court has formally indicted former government minister Duminda Dissanayake and a female co-defendant concerning the recovery of a gold-plated T-56 assault rifle. This legal action follows the discovery of the firearm at a residential complex in Wellawatte during May 2025. Initially, two women were detained by authorities, prompting an investigation by the Terrorism Investigation Division. This probe eventually implicated Dissanayake. Although the former minister had previously faced similar charges in early September, he was granted bail on both occasions. The court has once again ordered the release of both defendants on bail following the latest processing of the indictments.
