Scroll journalist Ayush Tiwari was taken into custody by Delhi Police on Saturday while reporting on demonstrations in the capital. The protest, organized by youth groups calling for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, was occurring elsewhere, but Tiwari was apprehended near the ITO area. Despite clearly wearing his press credentials and repeatedly informing officers of his professional status, Tiwari was placed into a police vehicle and removed from the scene. Officers reportedly dismissed his identification, claiming that many individuals were asserting similar credentials during the unrest. The incident was confirmed by his colleagues, who noted that Tiwari was not present at the primary protest site at Jantar Mantar when the detention occurred.
