Former Legislative Council member William Wong appeared in Shatin Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday to face legal proceedings regarding a traffic incident that occurred on June 29. The 66-year-old, who previously served as an associate dean at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, was charged with driving under the influence, dangerous driving, failing to stop after a collision, and neglecting to report property damage. These charges stem from an event at the university campus where Wong allegedly struck two stationary vehicles. Following the incident, which led to his resignation from the legislature, Wong departed the scene but later returned. The court granted him bail set at HK$5,000 as the case moves forward.
