The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) of Singapore successfully intercepted a significant quantity of contraband cigarettes at the Woodlands Checkpoint. On August 18, a vehicle registered in Malaysia was flagged for additional inspection after arriving at the border. Utilizing intelligence provided by the Integrated Targeting Centre, officers discovered over 460 cartons and 1,100 packets of duty-unpaid cigarettes concealed within multiple hidden compartments throughout the car. The driver was subsequently taken into custody. The ICA highlighted this incident as part of its ongoing efforts to prevent smuggling activities and ensure border security. The authority shared details of the seizure on social media, underscoring the effectiveness of their enhanced screening procedures in identifying illicit goods entering the country.
