Thai immigration authorities detained a 53-year-old French citizen on Koh Samui on October 28 following allegations of significant tax evasion and VAT fraud in his home country. The suspect, known as Alexandre, was apprehended near a residence in the Bo Phut area of Surat Thani province. Officials confirmed that his legal right to reside in Thailand had been rescinded prior to the arrest. The investigation centers on financial activities occurring since 2011, which reportedly include illicit tax deductions, complex aircraft financing schemes, and the movement of undisclosed capital to foreign accounts. The total financial impact of these alleged activities is estimated at approximately 50 million baht. Following his capture, the individual was transferred to the local immigration office to undergo standard legal processing related to his deportation and the outstanding charges.
