The coastal city of Gunsan in North Jeolla Province is hosting its yearly Jjamppong Festival from Friday through Sunday. Held at Baeknyeon Plaza in the Jangmi-dong district, the event highlights the regional significance of this spicy noodle soup, which serves as a key element of local culinary heritage. Jjamppong is prepared by stir-frying a combination of seafood, meat, and vegetables before adding a flavorful broth. By organizing this gathering, city officials intend to boost tourism by showcasing one of the most iconic dishes in Korean-Chinese cuisine. Visitors are encouraged to attend the three-day celebration to experience the unique flavors that have become synonymous with the port city's history.
