The Hindu community in Bangladesh observes Mahalaya today, signaling the transition from Pitru Paksha to the auspicious Devi Paksha. This occasion commemorates the commencement of Goddess Durga's journey from Kailash to Earth, setting the stage for the upcoming Durga Puja festivities. Various rituals are scheduled throughout the nation, including a significant event at the Dhakeshwari National Temple. The morning program features a special ceremony attended by Indian High Commissioner Dinesh Trivedi, alongside traditional offerings such as Til-tarpan, which is performed to honor the memory of ancestors. The day serves as a spiritual bridge, concluding the period dedicated to departed souls and welcoming the divine presence of the goddess.
