Chow Hang-tung, a prominent figure in the now-disbanded Hong Kong Alliance in Support of Patriotic Democratic Movements of China, has officially submitted an appeal against her recent conviction and sentencing. Last month, the 41-year-old barrister received a prison term of seven years and three months for inciting subversion under the national security law, a charge she consistently contested. The appeal was filed on Monday, though a date for the court hearing remains pending. Chow was tried alongside former legislators Lee Cheuk-yan and Albert Ho, who also received significant jail terms for their roles in the case. While Lee was sentenced to seven years, Ho, who entered a guilty plea at the start of the proceedings in January, was handed a sentence of five years and two months.
