A group of fourteen individuals, including twelve employees from the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department, has initiated legal action against a coworker regarding a disputed lottery prize. The plaintiffs allege that health inspector Ling Chun-ting kept the entire HK$33 million Mark Six jackpot for himself after a collective purchase for the September 5 draw. According to the writ of summons, the claimants argue that Ling is entitled to only approximately HK$4.21 million based on his share of the contribution. The lawsuit seeks a court injunction to prevent the defendant from spending or transferring the funds, while requesting a declaration that the remaining HK$28.91 million belongs to the other participants in the group betting arrangement.
