The government-operated postal service in Hong Kong has disclosed a record-breaking operating deficit of HK$905 million for the 2025-26 fiscal year. This financial result marks the ninth consecutive year that the organization has reported losses. In its latest annual publication, the entity highlighted its ability to remain functional despite facing a complex global economic landscape and shifting geopolitical tensions. Management identified several primary factors contributing to the fiscal strain, including the rise of protectionist trade measures, more stringent international customs regulations, elevated terminal dues, and a general increase in day-to-day operational expenditures. Despite these persistent financial difficulties, the postal service emphasized its commitment to maintaining service standards and demonstrating organizational adaptability in a challenging market environment.
