Security forces in New Delhi implemented a strict lockdown on Saturday to suppress a youth-led demonstration demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The protest, organized by the "Cockroach" movement, alleges that recent voter list revisions unfairly benefit the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party. Authorities suspended telecommunications and transportation services while deploying thousands of personnel to maintain order. During the operation, police apprehended approximately 200 demonstrators in the central business district. Among those taken into custody outside the capital was prominent YouTuber Dhruv Rathee, who had publicly supported the movement. Footage broadcasted on television depicted officers pursuing and detaining small groups of young activists throughout the area.
