Sodiq Safoyev, First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of Uzbekistan, recently addressed the CAMCA regional forum in Baku regarding the evolving status of Central Asia. Amidst a global landscape defined by polycrisis, including armed conflicts and supply chain disruptions, Safoyev argued that Central Asia is emerging as a more predictable and attractive region. He emphasized that while global interconnectedness persists, the decline in trust between major international actors presents significant risks. The senator advocated for elevating regional consultative meetings to a more formal institutional status to foster deeper cooperation. He noted that the region must prepare for a prolonged period of global transformation by strengthening shared values and regional identity, as traditional international institutions currently struggle to effectively address these multifaceted challenges.
