Despite an increase in the total area dedicated to soybean cultivation, India is facing a significant reduction in overall output. This decrease is primarily attributed to prolonged dry spells that have adversely affected agricultural yields in critical regions. Specifically, Maharashtra, which serves as a primary hub for soybean production within the country, is projected to experience a substantial drop in harvest volume, with estimates suggesting a decline of approximately one-third compared to previous expectations. The lack of adequate rainfall during essential growth periods has undermined the efforts of farmers who expanded their planting acreage, highlighting the vulnerability of the crop to climate-related disruptions in key producing states.
