Three independent journalists, Monika Singh, Bindu Gurjar, and Lokbhadra Singh, experienced a brief suspension of their Instagram profiles earlier this week. These reporters had been documenting the recent fatalities of Adivasi children in the Balaghat district of Madhya Pradesh. Their coverage focused on local protests, allegations of hospital mismanagement, and the challenges faced by ASHA healthcare workers. While the accounts were restored by Wednesday morning, Lokbhadra Singh characterized the suspension as an attempt to intimidate those reporting on the crisis. Recent reports indicate that a measles and malaria outbreak in the region remained unidentified for several weeks, resulting in multiple child deaths. The platform provided no immediate explanation for the temporary removal of the journalists' profiles.
