Military confrontations have escalated near the Yemeni city of Taiz as Houthi forces launch a new offensive to penetrate the area. Government military spokesperson Colonel Majed Al Nazili reported that state aircraft conducted fifteen separate airstrikes targeting rebel positions on the city's periphery. These operations reportedly resulted in significant Houthi casualties and the destruction of various military assets. The fighting has extended into residential districts located in the eastern part of the city. Taiz remains a critical geographic objective due to its role as a junction connecting northern territories controlled by the Houthis with southern regions held by the government, while also providing access to the Red Sea coastline. Control over this urban center is considered essential for managing the logistics and transport of military supplies across the country's active conflict zones.
