Iranian First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref has directed the creation of five dedicated committees to oversee preparations for the forthcoming Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) summit in Tehran. These groups will focus on cultural, tourism, diplomatic, economic, and political sectors to ensure the event is hosted effectively. Aref emphasized that the summit represents a vital chance to revitalize the organization, which he believes has underperformed relative to its potential over the last forty years. The initiative aligns with the administration's broader strategy of deepening ties with neighboring nations and strengthening Iran's role in regional blocs like the SCO and EAEU. By leveraging shared historical and cultural bonds, the government aims to foster greater collaboration among the ten member states. Aref noted that improved regional conditions provide a favorable environment for this diplomatic effort, which seeks to establish a more productive future for the ECO.
