The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has officially summoned Aidan Cronin, the Irish Ambassador to Tehran, to express formal dissatisfaction. Ireland currently occupies the rotating presidency of the European Union. The diplomatic action was prompted by the inclusion of what Iranian officials described as unfounded accusations against the country within a recent statement released during an EU summit. Alireza Yousefi, the Director-General for Western Europe and assistant to the Foreign Minister, conducted the meeting to convey Tehran's protest regarding the content of the European bloc's declaration.
