The Iraqi Prime Minister’s office announced that Iranian airlines, with the exception of Mahan Air, have received authorization to operate 40 daily flights to and from Najaf International Airport. This development follows discussions regarding US sanctions on Iranian aviation, which had previously disrupted travel. Prime Minister Ali Al Zaidi acknowledged the cooperation of the United States in providing an exemption to support the movement of medical patients and religious pilgrims. This decision comes after a period of uncertainty, during which the Iranian Civil Aviation Organisation had halted ticket sales to Najaf, prompting complaints from Iranian diplomatic representatives in the city. The new arrangement aims to restore regular air travel between the two nations while adhering to the conditions negotiated with international stakeholders.
