Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan are currently exploring the reactivation of passenger ferry services connecting the two nations via the Caspian Sea. This maritime link, which operated between the ports of Kuryk and Baku until its suspension in 2020 due to the global health crisis, is seen as a vital step for enhancing regional connectivity and tourism. Alim Bayel, the Kazakh Ambassador to Azerbaijan, confirmed that his government has formally proposed the restoration of this route. Historical data indicates that approximately 1,500 passengers utilized the service annually prior to the pandemic. Officials remain optimistic that the resumption of these ferry operations will experience increased demand, reflecting the strengthening of bilateral travel and tourism ties between the two countries in recent years.
