Yezdi Nagporewalla, CEO of KPMG India, recently highlighted the nation's economic durability amidst global geopolitical instability and supply chain challenges. Speaking at the ENRich 2026 conference, he noted that India’s growth remains supported by robust domestic consumption. While acknowledging the country's historical reliance on services, Nagporewalla advocated for a strategic balance by expanding the manufacturing sector, particularly in semiconductors and critical minerals. He emphasized that India must diversify its international trade partnerships beyond traditional allies to mitigate risks from global protectionism. Furthermore, he addressed the shifting labor market, noting that artificial intelligence is necessitating significant upskilling and reskilling efforts for the workforce. According to a recent KPMG report, Indian corporate leaders identify talent retention and addressing skill gaps as primary operational challenges as the economy adapts to technological advancements and changing global trade dynamics.
