A 100-meter section of the Prithvi Highway near Krishnabhir has collapsed into the Trishuli River, severing a primary transport link to Kathmandu for nearly two weeks. This infrastructure failure has halted the flow of critical commodities, including fuel, cooking gas, and food supplies, into the capital. Consequently, the city is facing significant market shortages and rising prices for basic goods. The severity of the supply crisis and reports of illicit trading led to the resignation of Gauri Kumari Yadav, the Minister for Industry, Commerce, and Supplies. Authorities are grappling with the logistical challenges posed by the missing road segment, which remains a bottleneck for the nation's distribution network.
