Argentine football icon Lionel Messi has officially moved to acquire CD Eldense, a club currently competing in Spain's Segunda Division. The organization, which has a history spanning over a century, announced that this transition marks the start of a comprehensive long-term development strategy. Messi purchased the majority stake previously owned by a Colombian investment firm, though the specific financial details of the transaction were not made public. This deal is currently pending mandatory authorization from the Higher Sports Council in accordance with Spanish sports regulations. This acquisition represents Messi's second investment in Spanish football this year, following his purchase of UE Cornella in April. Based in the Alicante province, CD Eldense intends to focus on professional growth while preserving its historical local identity. Messi, who is 39, continues his professional playing career with Inter Miami in Major League Soccer.
