The Administrative Court of Luxembourg has reversed an earlier decision by the Interior Ministry to deny asylum to a Turkish citizen associated with the Gülen movement. The ministry had previously argued that the individual faced no personal threat and noted his legal exit from Turkey and subsequent residence in Poland as reasons for rejection. However, the court determined that the applicant's family history, specifically his father's conviction, combined with his own involvement in the movement, created a credible risk of persecution upon his return to Turkey. Consequently, the court granted the man refugee status and rescinded the prior deportation order. The ruling challenges the government's assessment that the absence of prior direct targeting meant the individual was not at risk, emphasizing the potential dangers posed by his connections to the group.
