The Malaysian Ministry of Finance has announced a downward adjustment in the retail prices for unsubsidised fuel effective from October 1 to October 7. Both RON97 and RON95 petrol will see a price reduction of 5 sen per litre, bringing them to RM5.00 and RM4.52 respectively. Meanwhile, the price of unsubsidised diesel will decrease by 15 sen per litre, reaching RM5.27. These adjustments are attributed to a decline in global crude oil prices following the restoration of operations at Saudi Arabia’s East-West pipeline. Additionally, the market is experiencing an increased supply of refined petroleum products in Asia, notably due to a rise in export volumes from China, which are projected to surpass four million tonnes for the month of September.
