The Ministry of Defence in Malaysia is initiating a plan to reorganize over 300 registered Malaysian Armed Forces veterans' associations. Deputy Minister Adly Zahari announced that the National Veterans Council and the Veterans Affairs Department will lead this consolidation, aiming to reduce the total number of groups to 100. By grouping these organizations under parent associations, the government intends to improve the coordination and delivery of welfare assistance schemes. Furthermore, the ministry is evaluating the possibility of increasing financial allocations for these veterans. Adly also encouraged state governments to maintain their support for these associations, emphasizing that the primary objective of the Veterans Affairs Department remains the long-term welfare of former military personnel.
