The Malaysian government has formally notified Nepal that it will exclusively utilize its Foreign Workers Centralized Management System (FWCMS) for hiring Nepali laborers. This decision follows a formal protest from Kathmandu, which argued that the centralized framework unfairly limits competition among recruitment agencies. In its diplomatic response, Kuala Lumpur maintained that the FWCMS is essential for enhancing labor market oversight and ensuring a more organized recruitment process. Malaysian officials further asserted that the system is designed to safeguard the welfare of migrant workers by mitigating fraud risks and facilitating more effective regulatory enforcement. This stance highlights a persistent disagreement between the two nations regarding the mechanisms governing the employment of Nepali citizens in Malaysia.
