Authorities in Nepal have directed residents living near riverbanks to relocate to secure areas following severe flash flooding in the Gorkha district. The incident was triggered early Sunday when a landslide in the Chumnubri region obstructed a waterway, resulting in a rapid overflow of the Budhi Gandaki River. The deluge destroyed approximately twelve homes, two suspension bridges, and a key highway bridge connecting Gorkha to the Dhading district. Additionally, a local hydropower project camp suffered significant damage. Despite the scale of the destruction, no fatalities have been confirmed. Military personnel successfully rescued six individuals trapped by a landslide in Jagat, and eighteen workers from the damaged hydropower site managed to reach safety. The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority continues to monitor the situation as emergency response efforts remain ongoing.
