A 23-year-old resident of Okinawa, Rin Zamami, was discovered fatally stabbed outside her residence on Wednesday morning. Emergency responders found the victim unconscious following an 8:30 a.m. alert, but she was pronounced dead at the location. An autopsy revealed that the cause of death was significant blood loss resulting from neck injuries, with additional wounds on her arms suggesting defensive actions. Ms. Zamami, who resided with her young child, had previously sought police intervention regarding harassment from an ex-boyfriend. Records indicate she first reported stalking and online harassment in December 2025, leading authorities to issue a formal restraining order against the individual in February 2026. Investigations into the circumstances of the attack are ongoing.
