Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik announced that domestic oil refineries will bear the financial impact of a 15-rupee-per-liter petroleum levy. This measure aims to prevent a sharp rise in retail fuel prices for consumers. During a press conference, the minister also confirmed that a vessel carrying liquefied natural gas destined for Pakistan was attacked prior to reaching the Strait of Hormuz. While the specific attackers remain unidentified, officials emphasized that the incident will not disrupt national energy supplies. Information Minister Attaullah Tarar cautioned against public speculation regarding the identity of the assailants, noting that the government will release confirmed details as they become available. International condemnation of the maritime attack has already been issued by Saudi Arabia and Qatar, as authorities work to ensure the security of energy imports.
