Parliamentary Affairs Minister Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry announced that the Pakistani legislature will formally address the creation of new provinces during its upcoming October sessions. Emphasizing that parliament is the appropriate venue for such significant national discourse, Chaudhry noted that the topic is already being widely discussed by various stakeholders, including business leaders and academics. By moving the conversation into the National Assembly and Senate, the government aims to provide a structured environment for these deliberations. Furthermore, the minister clarified that Islamabad will maintain its designation as a federal territory. He stated that the government intends to focus on enhancing the existing governance framework within the capital while preserving its current administrative status.
