The Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS) has formally requested that the government provide a clear explanation regarding the postponement of former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s royal pardon petition. PAS secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan asserted that such a delay is unlikely to occur without specific objections or directives from members of the Federal Territories Pardons Board or other relevant stakeholders. Emphasizing the importance of public interest, Takiyuddin argued that the administration must maintain transparency concerning this high-profile case. The party’s call for clarity follows an official statement from the Legal Affairs Division of the Prime Minister’s Department. PAS maintains that the citizenry is entitled to understand the underlying reasons for the deferral of the pardon process, urging the government to address these concerns immediately to ensure accountability.
