Pacquiao, who replaces Lope Santos III, will oversee the agency's daily operations and coordinate poverty reduction initiatives across 24 government departments. The commission, which is chaired by the President, works to ensure that marginalized sectors are represented in government policy. Pacquiao expressed his commitment to the role, highlighting his past humanitarian efforts, including housing projects and medical missions. The appointment follows a recent executive order that placed the commission under the direct oversight of the Office of the President, marking a significant return to public service for the former lawmaker.
