Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has officially modified the schedule for the upcoming Basant festival in Lahore. Instead of the previously planned three-day event in March, the festivities will now span ten days, running from January 29 through February 7, 2027. A temporary pause is scheduled for February 5 to honor Kashmir Day. The Chief Minister stated that this extended timeframe is intended to celebrate the new year while showcasing the cultural heritage and historical identity of Lahore to a global audience. Relevant government departments have been instructed to begin preparations immediately to ensure the event is successfully executed. This decision replaces the original announcement made in August, with the administration aiming to provide a significant cultural experience for the city's residents.
