During the eighth Global Security Forum in Doha, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan bin Ali al-Thani highlighted Qatar's dual strategy of bolstering national defense while prioritizing diplomatic mediation. He emphasized that the Gulf region's security is essential for maintaining global economic stability and protecting international supply chains. The Minister identified three primary obstacles currently facing the nation: territorial threats, interruptions to energy exports, and the broader impact of regional instability. Despite existing disagreements, Qatar remains committed to engaging with Iran through diplomatic channels. The Minister underscored that any instability within the Gulf directly threatens global energy markets, necessitating a balanced approach that combines military readiness with persistent regional dialogue to ensure long-term security and economic continuity.
