Jibesh Chamling Rai, a respected musician and teacher, died on Wednesday night at the age of 65. He was receiving medical care for a brain tumor at Hams Hospital in Kathmandu. Rai was widely recognized for his contributions to music education, having taught at a dozen schools throughout the capital city. Beyond his pedagogical work, he was a prolific composer who created numerous tracks, particularly for children. His influence extended to his family, as he was the father of prominent singers Melina Rai and Junu Rai, both of whom were encouraged by his dedication to the craft. Colleagues remember him as a sociable individual with profound musical expertise who devoted much of his career to nurturing young talent.
