According to a Reuters report citing six anonymous sources, representatives from the Syrian government and the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah allegedly participated in clandestine discussions in Turkey during September. The reported meeting, purportedly facilitated by Turkish intelligence services, aimed to reduce regional friction. However, both the Turkish government and Syrian officials have formally refuted these allegations. The Turkish Presidential Communications Directorate’s Center for Countering Disinformation labeled the claims as entirely unfounded, specifically rejecting assertions regarding the timing and location of such a gathering. The report had suggested that intelligence and foreign ministry personnel from Syria met with Hezbollah delegates at the invitation of Turkish authorities, but official statements from Ankara have dismissed the entire narrative as false.
