While the Russian government denies allegations of war crimes in the region, Syutkin maintains that the prosecution is politically motivated and intended to punish his public opposition to the war. The trial, held at the Zyuzinsky District Court, concluded with closing arguments behind closed doors, and a verdict is anticipated next Tuesday.
