A 39-year-old woman in Singapore experienced a significant price hike after hiring a moving company for a short-distance relocation between Serangoon and Kovan. Originally quoted S$228 for the service, the final invoice surged to S$1,796. The moving firm attributed the additional S$1,280 in charges to "long pushing distance" fees, arguing that the client possessed five times more items than initially declared, including bulky furniture like a massage chair and sofa. The company stated that these extra costs were necessary because their vehicles could only be parked outside the residential building, requiring manual transport of goods over a longer distance. The customer, identified as Lei, had initially booked the move expecting a standard 10-foot lorry service for the four-kilometer trip, but the discrepancy in item volume led to the substantial increase in the final payment.
