A 39-year-old woman, Sun Beibei, is currently facing a legal challenge from the estate of a deceased 73-year-old businessman, Zhou Yansong. The businessman's daughter, acting as the estate's executor, has initiated a lawsuit to recover approximately S$1.71 million, alleging a breach of fiduciary duty. Sun, a native of Qingdao, China, who arrived in Singapore in 2012, maintains that the funds were voluntary gifts provided during their decade-long romantic relationship. The legal proceedings, which commenced in August, follow the death of the businessman in September 2024. The court is currently examining the nature of the financial transfers and the relationship between the two parties to determine if the claims of embezzlement hold merit. The trial remains ongoing as both sides present their arguments regarding the disputed assets.
