Turkish law enforcement officials have apprehended 45 suspects across 20 provinces as part of a fifth operation targeting the AHBAP charity organization. The investigation centers on the management of earthquake relief funds collected between February and December 2023. According to Justice Minister Akın Gürlek, the organization raised 4.3 billion lira, with 4.2 billion lira reported as spent. Authorities are scrutinizing significant cash withdrawals, including one transaction of 500 million lira, and substantial transfers to various private companies. Investigators have identified discrepancies regarding payments that lack documentation for goods or services, as well as instances where aid delivered to public institutions did not match the amounts listed on official invoices. The probe, initiated by the Interior Ministry, continues to examine the financial activities of the charity regarding its earthquake relief efforts.
