A 22-year-old Singaporean woman, Ong Siqi, has been sentenced to 12 months of probation and 50 hours of community service for flying a drone commercially without the required permits. Ong, who worked as a salesperson at JD Works Pte Ltd, utilized a company-owned DJI Mini 2 Pro drone for unauthorized commercial tasks between March and July 2025. Although the company director had permitted staff to use the device for recreational activities, Ong operated it for business purposes without authorization. Facing 31 charges under the Air Navigation Act, she entered a guilty plea for four counts, while the remaining charges were factored into her final sentencing on September 16. The case highlights the strict regulatory framework governing the commercial operation of unmanned aerial vehicles in Singapore.
