Six women, ranging in age from 22 to 36, are scheduled to appear in court on September 9, 2026, to face charges under Singapore's Public Order Act. Specifically, two of the women are accused of participating in an unauthorized march near the Istana on February 2, 2024. During this event, participants walked from Orchard Road toward the Istana, a high-security prohibited zone, while carrying umbrellas decorated with watermelon imagery to express solidarity with the Palestinian cause. The police investigation highlights that these activities violated regulations governing public gatherings in sensitive locations. The upcoming legal proceedings will address these alleged breaches of public order laws.
