Sri Lankan authorities are implementing heightened security protocols across 24 apartment buildings in the Colombo area. This initiative, coordinated by the police and the Urban Development Authority, follows reports of illicit drug trade and vandalism within these housing units. The decision was finalized during a meeting led by Deputy Inspector General Nishantha de Zoysa, acting under directives from the Inspector General of Police. The primary objective of this new security framework is to protect the well-being of residents living in developments under the Urban Regeneration Project. By establishing a more structured oversight system, officials aim to curb criminal activities and ensure that public property is preserved, thereby restoring law and order within these specific urban residential environments.
