Representatives from Turkey, Iraq, and the Kurdistan Regional Government are currently engaged in discussions in Erbil regarding the potential disarmament of approximately 4,200 Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) militants. According to reports, the initiative aims to facilitate the evacuation of 18 specific locations across northern Iraq throughout the current month. A joint committee involving Turkish intelligence, Iraqi security services, and regional Kurdish authorities is coordinating these daily negotiations. The initial phase of this proposal targets various camps, caves, and settlements in areas such as Amedi, Zakho, and Sidakan. Notably, the PKK's primary command center located on Mount Qandil is excluded from this preliminary stage of the plan. The ongoing talks represent a significant effort to address the presence of the outlawed group in the region.
