Turkish judicial authorities have issued detention orders for 34 additional individuals as part of an ongoing investigation into a significant investment fund crisis. Justice Minister Akın Gürlek confirmed that this latest action brings the total number of people facing legal proceedings in the case to 217. To date, 56 suspects have been remanded in custody, while 88 others remain under judicial supervision. The investigation follows the September 17 decision by the Capital Markets Board to liquidate 131 funds managed by seven separate firms. These funds were suspended from trading after management companies were unable to fulfill investor withdrawal requests during a market downturn. The crisis currently impacts over 455,000 investors who are still waiting for their capital to be returned. Authorities have also authorized asset seizures and property searches related to the newly identified suspects, though specific identities have not been disclosed.
