The terrorism trial against Swedish journalist Joakim Medin, currently being conducted in absentia in Turkey, has faced its fourth postponement. The Istanbul 13th High Criminal Court issued this decision following a translation error found in the documentation provided by Swedish authorities regarding a request to question the journalist. While Turkey previously sought assistance from Sweden to interrogate Medin, the Swedish government declined the request earlier this year, citing concerns over the protection of independent journalism and freedom of expression. The Turkish court has now requested a clarification from Sweden, emphasizing that they are seeking a defense statement rather than an extradition. Consequently, the legal proceedings have been rescheduled to continue on January 5, 2027.
